TIPS FOR FINDING CHEAP FLIGHTS
Most people have a budget when they are traveling and that is what makes
this section so important. One of the biggest expenses of international
travel can be the airfare. Any money saved on this portion of the trip
can be used to upgrade your hotel, car rental, or just provide you with
more flexibility on your trip. The following are some of the best ways
to save money on your flights.
PLAN IN ADVANCE. Figure out a travel schedule well in advance, the further in advance that you can book a trip the cheaper the tickets will be and the more time that you will have to wait for specials to come up and offer you even bigger discounts. Also, try to be flexible with your travel times and dates, doing this may allow you to travel for a lot less.
WATCH AND WAIT. It is important to get an idea of the general price on the flights that you want, and then watch for deals and discounts. When a good price comes up then be sure to jump on it. It is important not to wait too long and hope that a better deal will come along, doing this may backfire on you.
BUY DIRECTLY FROM THE AIRLINE. There are a ton of travel sites out there offering you low prices, but after investigating this further, many times I have found that contacting the airline you get just as good a price if not better buying direct. The other benefit to buying direct is if there is a problem and the flight falls through, the airline will be more apt to take care of you if you bought the tickets directly from them, and this can be especially helpful when traveling internationally.
TIME OF DAY. Consider the time of day you will be traveling. In addition to the cost of that flight itself, sometimes the time you travel will affect the cost of other transportation on your trip as well. Make sure that at the time you arrive you will have access to the other things you need, like the rental car company or a public transportation service. Sometimes just getting a deal on the flight, can wind up costing more in the long run, if you are not wise about your arrangements.
CALL & SEARCH THE WEB. Many international carriers don't make themselves available to web searches, so this can make the rates on international flights much higher than they need to be. Sites like Airtech, Aircourier, and Momondo can be helpful and have good rates for international airfares; however it also may be beneficial to contact a travel agent or the hotel in which you will be staying to see if you can get a better deal. In some cases you can get a flight for less than half the price. Also, you can do a search of airlines that fly out of (wherever you are going to) and then you can contact these airlines directly for more access to international carriers.
Using these tips you will be able to find the best deals on flights, and remember the more flexible you are the more you control how much you pay for the same service.
